Today I decided to put back together my HD-DVD drive for my Xbox. It had been taken apart a few weeks ago. The reason for it’s disassembly was because of a weak connection on the USB plug. So while my friends and I were watching a movie the movie would suddenly disappear because it disconnected. Major pain.
We took it apart and while it was in pieces it magically worked!(When plugged in of course.) It was able to get a strong connection while apart. And for a while it had been sitting in pieces on top of the entertainment cabinet.
Well, when I put it back together I had some leftover pieces. Funny how that always happens. This time it was 4 screws and 2 metal plates. I could probably figure out where they go, but I don’t want to go through the hassel of taking the whole thing apart and putting it back together. It works fine as it is.
Update: I failed to mention one thing about the fix for the problem that I had. Because the USB cable didn’t have an excellent connection, I had to take a dremel and drill away at the plastic until it had a large enough hole for the entire USB cable. Once I did that and put the thing back together the USB cable sat in there just fine.
Also, I found 1 more plastic piece that belongs inside the drive somewhere…
